IVECO and Safety
It is well known that safety features in motor vehicles are critical in preventing or reducing the severity of collisions. IVECO’s dedication to safe mobility is reflected in the design and development of its vehicles, which are capable of activating all the systems needed to help the driver prevent and avoid accidents. Additionally, if a collision is unavoidable, these modern technologies and systems help to protect passengers and the safety of other road users.
IVECO’s research and development of safety systems are based on three key areas:
Driving Support – Providing attention to the devices that support the driver during normal use and the alert phase.
Accident Prevention – Focusing on systems that are activated in the event of an emergency to support the driver in maneuvering to avoid collisions.
Damage Mitigation – Providing attention to the devices involved when a crash is inevitable, to limit the impacts.
Cutting Edge Safety Features
Some of the advanced safety features that you can expect to see in a new IVECO vehicle include:
Electronic Braking System (EBS)
IVECO’s electronic braking system combines the functions of Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS) and Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) with a braking force limiter intended to ensure maximum braking distance.
Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
This system kicks into action during a loss of traction event, by adjusting the engine power and braking on individual wheels with different intensity so as to stabilise the vehicle. It is effective both in sudden path deviations and in correcting oversteer or understeer as a result of excessive speed on entry to a curve.
Hill Holder Technology
This system is an aid that is used during uphill starts. Its function is to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards during the few seconds between releasing the brake and engaging traction.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
This system maintains the speed selected by the driver, ensuring comfort while driving long distances. If a safe distance to the vehicle ahead is not maintained, the engine brake, the retarder and service brake can be activated if required.
Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
The LDWS beeps to alert the driver if the vehicle makes an unplanned departure from its lane (for example due to distractions or drowsiness). A camera installed on the windscreen enables the system to recognise the road markings.
